Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica — Anya is an alternative dancehall and hip-hop artist formerly known as "Angel Anya".

Growing up with more dreams than resources, she never once doubted she would make it. In a city that moves to its own riddim, she absorbed the pulse of reggae and dancehall on every corner while promising herself that one day she'd have the life she imagined and become the star she was born to be. By 15, she was already writing and recording her own songs. That promise never left her. It moved with her to Connecticut, where she spent her high school years soaking up new sounds and sharpening her ambition, and it followed her to Miami, the city she now calls home base.
